Uneven results can ruin a dinner party, but they are not always a sign of catastrophic failure. Separate appliance issues from recipe and pan variables with a few structured checks.
Verify Temperature
Use a reliable oven thermometer on the center rack after a full preheat and stabilization. If the cavity reads consistently high or low, user calibration—where available—may correct it.
Elements and Convection
Inspect bake and broil elements for gaps or blistering. In convection modes, listen for the fan; blocked rear airflow or a lazy fan changes browning patterns.
Sensors
Erratic swings or codes may implicate the temperature probe or control logic—those tests belong in a service visit with proper tools.
Bakeware and Racks
Dark pans and multi-rack bakes change timing. Rotate pans mid-cycle when baking two sheets for more even color.
